VISIT GREECE - Visit Thessaloniki

Holiday

Thessaloniki is one of the most beautiful cities in Greece. Located in the North of the country is the main port for all Balkan countries. Those who visit Halidiki for their holidays would normally fly to Thessaloniki, as this is the main airport for this region.

Visitors in Thessaloniki can enjoy a walk or a cup of Greek coffee by the sea front,  visit the always busy fish market, or enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many tavernas of the city centre.

At night the city takes on a different image. The city lights and the small streets create feelings of excitement and relaxation and the city remains alive until the early hours of the morning.

History

Paul visited the city in his second journey. He travelled from Philippi (nowdays only one hour and thirty minutes' drive) to Thessaloniki, to establish a church that is active until the present.

As you walk through the city you can sense something of those days. You can visit the ancient market, you can walk on Egnatia road, and pray in one of the hundreds of Orthodox churches of the city some of them dated as early as 300 AD.

You can also arrange for a day trip to Philippi and visit the prison Paul was imprisoned because he was preaching the Good News of Jesus.

The Greek Salvation Army

The Salvation Army in Greece, although small, can give you the support you need for an exciting time. While in the city you can come in touch with the excitement of a new beginning, you can become a part of the early steps of work of the Army in Greece. Your prayer and support is extremely important.

We do have some accommodation available and If you need any more information about the facilities we can offer, please send an email to polis@salvationarmy.gr or call 0030 2310315027. We would normally ask for a donation towards the development of the work of the Army in Greece.
